Step into the timeless beauty of porcelain in this focused wheel-throwing workshop designed for potters ready to explore or deepen their relationship with this luminous, refined clay body. Whether you're new to porcelain or looking to elevate your skills, this workshop offers a rich, hands-on experience with one of pottery’s most captivating materials.
Requirements
Confident in centering and pulling even walls/cylinders with 2lbs of clay
Previous experience with porcelain is optional
Clay
You can choose your clay. Workshop includes a bag (22lbs) of P300, Polar Ice is available for an extra $40.
Date:
Sundays - 1000am - 1230pm - July 13 - August 17
Objectives:
Introduction to or accumulating skills in working with porcelain
Learn about the basic history of porcelain pottery and different types of firing and glazes
Practice throwing, trimming, and glazing pieces
Learn how to best express the material through design and making
How to reclaim your clay
Outcome:
Finished pieces fired to Cone 6
Knowledge of the material and its history
Full range of experience working with porcelain
Improved skill set that can also be applied to other types of clay
How to Prepare and What to Bring:
Wear clothes and footwear that you can get a little muddy in.
We will provide an apron, but if you have a favourite one, feel free to bring that!
Trim your nails and have your hair up
